Grants and Loans Make your Investment in the HRD More Affordable

Renovations, materials, labor and engineering expenses can add up quickly, however, the Houma Restoration District offers grants and loans that may offset your costs.

Public Amenity Grant

Projects and amenities designed to attract revitalization and economic growth in Houma and creates a positive perception of
Terrebonne Parish. Funds shall not exceed $ 100,000.00 per application. Applications may be partially funded. The Houma Restoration District is seeking public-private partnerships to implement projects within the jurisdiction of the District to provide opportunities for cultural events, to enhance visitor experiences, and to encourage development within the District.

Grant funds shall be used in one or more of the following areas:

  • Development, engineering, construction of projects within the jurisdiction of the HRD in Terrebonne Parish.
  • Other eligible expenses include advertising for the promotion of the project, permit fees, signage, or other approved items reasonable or necessary to complete and promote the project.

Facade Grant

The Houma Restoration District (HRD) has developed a Facade Repair/Improvement Grant Program (“Program”) designed to provide an economic incentive for improving the appearance of the facades of buildings in the District, and to encourage quality renovation that will enhance and be consistent with the historical design, materials, and architectural character reflected in the original design of the building.

Max grant amount of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000). Applications will be partially funded in a 50/50 match system between HRD and property owner.

Grant funds shall be used in one or more of the following areas:

  • Removal of vinyl or aluminum siding; Facade restoration and/or repair
  • Replacement of signage/awnings; Installation of exterior lighting; Basic Cosmetic work (painting, masonry, cleaning); Brick
  • re-pointing; Window replacement; Renovations of covered entrances and Renovations of cornices, gutters, and downspouts

Engineering and Design Loan

Engineering and Design loans are available to fund engineering and/or design services which will ultimately be used in
construction or renovation designed to attract revitalization and economic growth in Houma and create a positive perception of Terrebonne Parish.

Funds shall not exceed $ 50,000.00 per application. Applications will be partially funded in a 50/50 match system between
HRD and property owner.

Grant funds shall be used in one or more of the following areas:

  • Development, engineering, design of projects within the jurisdiction of the HRD in Terrebonne Parish.
  • · Other eligible expenses include advertising for the promotion of the project, permit fees, signage, property appraisals, abstracts, surveys, elevation certificates, engineering plans, or other approved items reasonable or necessary to complete and promote the project.
